Ah, Tallulah Gorge State Park – where RV challenges and culinary delights collide! Our journey began with a daring maneuver to get our rig into the campground. Note to self: "Big rig-friendly" doesn't always mean a cakewalk. But hey, a few tight turns and a close encounter with a rock later, we were parked and ready to roll.
First order of business? Breakfast at The Rusty Bike Café, a local gem serving up stellar food and service. With our bellies full, it was time to explore Georgia's wine scene, courtesy of Shelly's co-worker, Kendra.
Our first stop: Stonewall Creek Vineyards, where we were greeted like long-lost friends by a fellow Texan, Gail. Not only is she a fellow Texan but also from a town over from where Shelly was born! The wines? Divine. The views? Breathtaking. And that chocolate brownie? A slice of heaven. Plus, we even got a sneak peek behind the scenes – talk about VIP treatment!
Next up, Tiger Mountain Vineyards, where we sampled wines fit for the most discerning palates. Sorry, sis – no sweet sips for you! But hey, the outdoor patio and charcuterie board more than made up for it.
And let's not forget Napa South, tucked away in charming downtown Clayton. Flights of wine paired with savory and sweet treats? Count us in! Bonus points for Kendra's hubby, Brian, joining in the fun and a delicious dinner at Fortify Kitchen and Bar – farm-to-table fare at its finest.
Saturday brought hiking adventures galore at Tallulah Gorge State Park. From the South Rim Trail to the heart-pounding 620-step descent to the suspension bridge, every step was worth it for those awe-inspiring views. And let's not forget the 620-step climb back up – talk about a workout!
With appetites worked up, we refueled at Hush Cuban Kitchen & Bar. Oh, the details? Let's just say the flavors danced on our taste buds, leaving us craving more.
Back at the campsite, we settled in for a cozy evening by the fire, accompanied by a spirited game of "Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza." Because after a day of adventure, nothing beats good food, good company, and a little friendly competition.
And so concludes our Tallulah Gorge escapade – a whirlwind of RV challenges, culinary delights, and hiking highs.
Until next time, keep spinning the wheel of adventure!
Happy RVing!
