Hey there fellow travelers and adventure seekers! We recently had the pleasure of exploring the beautiful state of Minnesota, and we can't wait to share our exciting experiences with you. So buckle up and join us as we take you through our journey, from the welcoming Minneapolis Southwest KOA to the musical magic at Treasure Island Casino and a pitstop at Mystic Lake Casino. Let's dive right in!

Minneapolis Southwest KOA: A Warm Welcome

Our journey began with a fantastic stay at the Minneapolis Southwest KOA. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly team, who went above and beyond to ensure we felt right at home. They even escorted us to our spacious site, which came equipped with full hookups – perfect for RV travelers like us!

Navigating the campground was a bit tight and narrow, but don't let that discourage you. The spots were long enough to accommodate even the largest rigs, making it a convenient choice for RV enthusiasts. The campground offered a range of amenities, including a pool, a dog park, laundry facilities, and more. Plus, getting to the park from the main road was a breeze. We couldn't have asked for a more pleasant start to our Minnesota adventure.

Treasure Island Casino: A Night of Entertainment

Next up, we took a detour to the renowned Treasure Island Casino, located In Welch, MN. This Treasure Island might not be in Las Vegas, but it holds its own charm as we learned it was actually the first Treasure Island and Vegas has to continually pay royalties to bear the name. Our thanks go out to Shelly’s friend, Lisa, who made our visit possible and to her brother, Michael, who generously provided us with a free room.

The highlight of our evening at Treasure Island was undoubtedly the Jason Aldean concert. Picture this: a beautiful evening, regardless of the hot and humid Minnesota weather (note the glistening on our faces below), toe-tapping music, delicious food, and refreshing beverages – it was an unforgettable experience. The concert left us buzzing with excitement and provided the perfect outdoor escape.

Of course, being at Treasure Island, we couldn't resist trying our luck at the casino. While our gambling experience was a bit uneventful – I was done in a matter of minutes – we joined the Island Passport Players Club and received a book of discounts to enjoy at the casino. While the discounts were appreciated, we secretly wished for some FreePlay.

Mystic Lake Casino: A Gamblers' Paradise

On our way back to the road, we made a pitstop at Mystic Lake Casino. Shelly had previously visited here on a business trip, and it was my turn to experience it and hopefully turn my luck around (and I did). I quickly enrolled in the Club M Players Club, and though there weren't specific benefits for new members, the sheer variety of slot machines and table games kept us entertained.

Mystic Lake Casino is quite the large resort, complete with an RV park, making it a potential future destination for us RV enthusiasts. The casino itself was impressively clean, although it's worth noting that there was a fair amount of smoking in the area. However, the variety of new machines available kept us engaged and entertained.

Culinary Adventures: Noteworthy or Not?

As much as we love a good culinary adventure, this time around, our journey didn't yield any particularly memorable food stops. Sometimes, it's not about the food, but the company (and Shelly is good company - I like her a little bit LOL) and experiences that truly make a trip special.

So, there you have it, folks – our Minnesota adventure, filled with warm welcomes, musical magic, and a touch of gambling excitement. We hope you've enjoyed traveling with us through the Minneapolis Southwest KOA, Treasure Island Casino, and Mystic Lake Casino.

Until next time, keep spinning the wheel of adventure!

Happy RVing!
