After an unforgettable journey on Mackinac Island, it was finally time for us to start making our way back home. Seven weeks on the road had been an incredible adventure, filled with exciting stops and cherished memories. As we bid farewell to Mackinac Island, we made a special detour to Lake Angeles, Michigan, the hometown of our dear friend Doug and his amazing wife, Mary. Doug and Mary welcomed us with open arms, providing us with an overnight stay filled with steaks, wine, tequila, and great conversations. We couldn't have asked for a better way to conclude this leg of our trip.
Our overnight stop in Lake Angeles, Michigan, was a wonderful visit. It's not only the friends you see but also the people you meet along the way that make travel truly special. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Doug, Mary, and the Lake Angeles crew for their warm hospitality during our visit. This stop reminded us that the best part of travel is the connections you make with both old friends and new acquaintances.
A Convenient Rest at Eden Springs Park and Campground
From Lake Angeles, we made a convenient stop at Eden Springs Park and Campground in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This provided us with a comfortable and practical place to rest for the night before continuing our journey. With spacious pull-through sites, 50-amp hookups, and easy access to the interstate, it was the perfect place to recharge for the next leg of our adventure.
Silver Beach Pizza
For dinner, we headed to Silver Beach Pizza, a local hotspot that came highly recommended. We were not disappointed. The salads were amazing, and the pizzas were to die for. I decided to try a half-and-half pie, opting for the Boom and the Parugula, both oil-based pizzas with great toppings. To make it even more special, I chose the cauliflower crust. It's no surprise that Silver Beach Pizza is regarded as one of the top pizza places in Southwest Michigan. If you find yourself in the area, a visit to this pizzeria is a must.
Four Winds Casino

Our evening entertainment led us to the Four Winds Hartford Casino. It's the kind of place that offers a little something for everyone, from slot machines to table games and live entertainment. We joined the Four Winds Club Member Program to start earning points for free play and comps. While I can't recall any specific new member bonuses, the overall experience was fantastic. With multiple locations in the area, there's something for every gaming enthusiast. If you have some free time, we highly recommend stopping by for a bit of fun and excitement.
Homeward Bound
As we prepared to leave Benton Harbor, Michigan, we made a quick pit stop at a Pilot gas station to top off our tank, ensuring we were ready for the next leg of our journey. And, of course, we couldn't resist the Blue Beacon Truck Wash. There's something oddly satisfying about seeing all that road dirt and grime disappear from our rig. The Blue Beacon crew did a fantastic job, and the prices were reasonable, making it a must-stop for any road warrior.
Our journey through Mackinac Island and Michigan had been an incredible adventure, filled with beautiful scenery, delicious food, and unforgettable encounters. The welcome of old friends, the practicality of Eden Springs Park and Campground, Silver Beach Pizza's delectable pies, and the excitement of the Four Winds Casino all added their own special charm to our trip. As we continued our journey homeward bound, we were reminded once again that the real treasure of travel lies not only in the destinations but in the experiences and connections we make along the way, with both friends and newfound acquaintances.
Until next time, keep spinning the wheel of adventure!
Happy RVing!
