Greetings, fellow adventurers! We had a great time in Homestead, Florida, where we recently spent a fun-filled week!

Boardwalk RV Park: A Cozy Basecamp

Our home base for the week was Boardwalk RV Park. The park itself was filled with very mature trees which created nice shade throughout the park. They also had numerous amenities, such as recreation center, heated pool, shuffleboard courts to name a few. The park was home to many "snowbirds" and longtime tenants which was not bad but worthy of mentioning.

All of the spots were very very close together. The office staff was not overly helpful directing us to our site nor the fact that we needed to park on the grass versus parking on the paved area of the site. Thanks to our neighbor, Johnny, who helped us avoid a precarious situation as the road was quite narrow and there were several mature bushes in our site. That said, once in our spot, we found it to be quite nice with a large, spacious patio, full hook ups, and nice proximity to some of the amenities.

Discovering Nature's Charms: Everglades and Biscayne National Parks

We spent our spare time navigating the trails and boardwalks of Everglades and Biscayne National Parks.

In the Everglades National Park, we did a couple of trails and the boardwalk where we got up and close with an alligator which was not too wise. I might recommend avoiding that in the future! LOL We also saw a variety of incredible birds, as well as many different fish. It was a really nice nature walk on the elevated boardwalk as well as hiking the Gumbo Limbo Trail at the Royal Palm area. Definitely an interesting park and one that I would recommend checking out. There was a lot of parking available for us and even RV parking for smaller rigs.

The Biscayne National Park is a unique park because I believe 95% of it is actually underwater. Because of that, we were able to take it in one morning before work since we did not plan on doing any of the available water activities. We did enjoy the boardwalk that led to a nice viewing area where we got to see several birds, lizards, and fish. If we had more time there, we would definitely want to take advantage of kayaking or a guided boat ride out to one of the islands to check out additional viewing areas.

Savoring Local Flavors: Black Point Ocean Grill and Casita Tejas Mexican Restaurant

ree

Our culinary adventures led us to Black Point Ocean Grill and Casita Tejas Mexican Restaurant. While Black Point's ambiance and views were delightful, service fell short of expectations. However, the food, including cobia fish and tuna tacos, made up for it. Casita Tejas charmed us with its authentic Tex-Mex fare, from spicy stuffed jalapeños to sizzling fajitas, making it a perfect spot for a Valentine's celebration.

Cinematic Delights at EVO Cinemas

Evenings were capped off with a trip to EVO Cinemas, where we took in two movies: Argyle and Madame Web. With comfy seats and top-notch technology, the viewing experience was really good, despite the absence of my favorite Twizzlers at the concession stand.

Our time in Homestead, FL, was marked by simple pleasures and memorable moments. From nature walks to savory meals and cinematic treats, it was a week well spent. Join us on our next adventure as we continue to explore the beauty and charm of our world.

Until next time, keep spinning the wheel of adventure!

Happy RVing!
