Hey there, fellow adventurers! Today, we're excited to take you on a journey to a charming town that's no stranger to the magic of HGTV's "Home Town" with Ben and Erin Napier. Laurel, Mississippi, may not be on everyone's travel radar, but trust us, it's a hidden gem waiting to be explored.
A Unique Stay at Veterans Memorial Museum
Our adventure began with a unique stay at the Veterans Memorial Museum. As members of Harvest Host, we had the privilege of staying for free, with just one simple request - to support the local location. While the museum itself was closed during our visit, we were thrilled to arrange a private tour. From vintage tanks and planes to classic jeeps, the collection was a history buff's dream. We highly recommend stopping by if you have the chance.
The Scotsman Company - Where Creativity Thrives

A visit to Laurel wouldn't be complete without checking out the Scotsman Company, where Ben Napier works his creative magic. We couldn't resist picking up a beautiful leather bowl, perfect for keeping our treasures. The Mercantile and the Scent Library also provided a delightful shopping experience, thanks to Shelly's keen eye for unique finds.
Unexpected Barbecue Delights at Texas Pit
We admit, it might sound unusual for a Texan to seek out barbecue in Mississippi, but our meal at Texas Pitmaster Barbecue was a delightful surprise. Limited options on a Sunday afternoon led us here, and we were far from disappointed. The flavors were incredible, and it turned out to be a memorable culinary adventure.
Exploring Laurel's Renovated Homes

After filling our bellies, we decided to embark on a Laurel Home Tours. Though not officially affiliated with the show, it allowed us to cruise in style - a spacious pink Hummer limousine - through Laurel, where Ben and Erin have left their mark. Over 40 beautifully redone homes told a story of transformation and community impact that's truly inspiring.
A Home Town Viewing Party at Jones College
Our Laurel adventure reached a peak when we attended a Home Town viewing party at Jones College. This is where Ben and Erin first crossed paths before their journey to Ole Miss. The party took place in the newly renovated college M. P. Bush Fine Arts Building auditorium, which was a treat in itself. We were honored to meet the individuals who lived in the home featured in one of the show's recent episodes, as well as the university's president and vice president, who welcomed us warmly.
Even more thrilling was the announcement at the event of the Erin and Ben Napier School of Design and Business Arts at Jones College, focusing on the trades. It's a fitting tribute to a couple who have poured so much into their community.
In Conclusion
Our trip to Laurel, Mississippi, was nothing short of amazing. It's a town filled with history, creativity, and the heartwarming touch of the Napiers. Whether you're a fan of "Home Town" or simply seeking a unique adventure, Laurel should be on your travel list. It certainly became one of our favorite stops on this journey.
So, pack your bags, follow in our footsteps, and discover the magic of Laurel, Mississippi, for yourself. You won't be disappointed!

I would love to visit Laurel Mississippi some day. Thanks for sharing your favorite Home Town memories! I actually just watched the episode of them at Jones College.
