Ellensburg KOA: A Comfortable Stop

Our adventure began at the Ellensburg KOA, an absolute haven for travelers seeking comfort and a touch of wilderness. We initially stopped here for a couple of days, only to find ourselves drawn back later in our trip. And what's not to love? This KOA boasts a plethora of amenities, from cozy camping cabins to vibrant basketball courts, boat launches to friendly clubhouse fun. Cornhole games, crackling fire pits, a well-stocked gift shop, and even valet trash service – they've got it all covered! Our campsite, a dreamy pull-through with 50 amp hookups, made settling in a breeze. Riverside camping and teepees for those seeking a unique experience added a special touch. The only hiccup? Navigating the entrance, especially for those with larger rigs coming from the east.

Gard Winery: Sipping Local Flavors

Being wine enthusiasts, Shelly and I couldn't resist a visit to the Ellensburg tasting room of Gard Vintners. With Conner as our tasting guru, we indulged in a variety of their exquisite wines. The tasting flight, priced at $15 but waived with a two-bottle purchase, guided us through incredible whites to rich Reds. Their charcuterie board complemented the experience perfectly. Armed with Conner's recommendations for our Seattle venture, we were set to explore the city's best spots thanks to our newfound sommelier friend.

Julep: Southern Cuisine

A tip from Conner led us to Julep, an award-winning downtown bar and restaurant specializing in comforting southern cuisine. Shelly, hailing from the South, felt right at home with Nashville hot sandwiches, flavorful salads, and fried catfish. Don't forget the amazing drinks! Just a heads-up, though – the bar is 21 and over, so it's the perfect spot for adults seeking a fantastic culinary experience. The flavors left us in awe, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Legends Casino: A Dash of Excitement

A Kevin and Shelly adventure wouldn't be complete without a casino stop, and Legends Casino and Hotel in Toppenish fulfilled that desire. With over 1500 slot machines, 19 table games, dining options, and even a hotel, it was a haven for entertainment. While I didn't hit the jackpot this time, Shelly had better luck with the slots. Our new rewards program membership gifted us cool swag – an insulated bag for Shelly and a reusable grocery bag for me! Plus, a discount to the all-you-can-eat buffet, where I may have overindulged a bit. Legends Casino is a must-visit for those seeking a dash of excitement.

Biking Beauty: Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail

In the spirit of staying active, especially after the Buffett, Shelly and I tackled the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail on our bikes. This 250-mile trail, weaving through towns and riversides along an old rail path, offered stunning views of the surrounding beauty. Challenging ourselves, we pedaled 20 miles and basked in the awe-inspiring scenery. Trust me, fellow explorers – this trail is waiting to be discovered.

Waterfire: A Culinary Gem

For an evening of culinary delight, Shelly and I headed to Waterfire Restaurant in Yakima. This farm-to-table haven treated us to mouthwatering Thai chicken lettuce wraps, a refreshing Waterfire wedge salad, and a succulent filet as the main course. If you're in the mood for a memorable gastronomic journey, Waterfire is your go-to spot.
