Adventures Galore: From Marietta to Cloudland Canyon

Buckle up, folks! Our latest escapade took us from Marietta, GA, to the stunning landscapes of Cloudland Canyon State Park. But before we dive into the canyon's wonders, let's rewind to our pit stop in Marietta.

Our home for the short stop? Atlanta Marietta RV Park – nestled behind a car dealership, overlooking Dobbins Air Reserve Base. Picture this: waking up to the bugle call at 8am – an unexpected symphony to kickstart our day. Who needs an alarm clock when you've got military tradition, right?

Now, let’s talk grub. The evening we arrived, we couldn’t resist a visit to Marietta Diner – a legendary spot featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! And let me tell you, folks – it lived up to the hype. From towering stacks of pancakes to juicy burgers, it was a feast fit for kings.

But the fun didn’t stop there. The next day, we teamed up with Shelly’s co-worker, Rachel, for a hike along the Cochran Shoals Trail at the Chattahoochee River. Nature’s playground at its finest, with good company to boot!

And speaking of good company, we met up with Rachel's husband, Pramod, for a feast at Jerusalem Bakery and Grill. Let me tell you, folks – the Mediterranean flavors transported us straight back to our favorite Mediterranean, Platia.. Great food, great friends – what's not to love?

Now, onto Cloudland Canyon State Park – a hidden gem in Rising Fawn, GA. Renovated campsites, check. Laundry room for those inevitable muddy clothes, double-check. This park knows how to treat its visitors right. And with its sprawling size and rolling hills, driving is a must if you want to explore every nook and cranny.

But the real star of the show? The main overlook, offering sweeping views of the canyon that'll leave you breathless. And if you listen closely, you might just hear the distant roar of Cherokee and Hemlock Falls. Just a word of caution though – that trail down to the falls? Let's just say it's not for the faint of heart. But trust me, the payoff is worth every drop of sweat.
