Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Utah, Ogden offers a delightful mix of culinary delights, local spirits, and breathtaking mountain views. Recently, Shelly and I embarked on a weekend visit to Ogden, where we were joined by Shelly’s colleague, Cat, and her husband, Kevin, for a Sunday brunch adventure. Let's delve into the highlights of our visit to Ogden!
Pre-Trip and Roosters Brewing Co
In preparation for our Sunday brunch with Cat and Kevin, we decided to scope out the parking situation as we would be parking our rig in Ogden so we could head on to our next location after our visit and I don’t like to take chances getting in a bad situation with the rig. On Saturday night, we did a pre-trip to scope out suitable locations. The night turned into a real culinary experience when we stumbled upon Roosters Brewing Co in downtown Ogden.

With Kenzie as our attentive waitress, we relished a scrumptious dinner. The parmesan basil vinaigrette on the side salads left our taste buds dancing with delight. The pepper jack shrimp appetizer, paired with Louisiana hot sauce, was a spicy treat. I savored the trio of tacos – grilled fish, carne asada, and the standout chipotle chicken taco with Serano peppers that left me saying, "Wow!" Roosters Brewing Co is a must-visit for any foodie in Ogden.
The Side Bar at Ogden’s Own Distillery

As fate would have it, our quest for a parking spot led us to the discovery of the Side Bar at Ogden’s Own Distillery. Attached to the distillery was a charming little bar where we met Mason, the bartender, who shared the history of the distillery. We sampled a variety of whiskeys, including the fun peanut butter and jelly shot and the robust revolver, which was a blend of rye whiskey and coffee liqueur. Along with a delightful cheese board, the spirits made for an exceptional experience. We went back the following day because the retail store was closed during our Saturday night visit but surprisingly, they were open on Sunday afternoon. We left with a few bottles - Porter's Peanut Butter Rye Whisky and Fire Rye Whisky, which were our favorites.
The Angry Goat Brunch
The next morning, we met Cat and Kevin at The Angry Goat, a vibrant bar offering a delectable brunch menu. I opted for the California omelette, complete with chicken, bacon, avocado, and cheeses, while Shelly relished the flavorful fajita omelette. The fry sauce was a pleasant surprise, adding an extra burst of flavor to our meal. The atmosphere was really nice and set the perfect tone for the day.
Adventure at Snowbasin

With full stomachs and ready for fun, we set out for Snowbasin, a renowned mountain resort. The scenic drive provided a stunning backdrop of the area’s beauty. When we got to the resort, we realized they were having a beerfest of sorts with many beer tents and a main stage for live music. Since we had a limited time, we decided to take the ride to the top of the mountain and take in the sites from the highest point. When we arrived at the top, we hiked through the remnants of winter's snow, savoring the refreshing mountain air.
Conclusion
Our weekend in Ogden was a blend of unexpected surprises and wonderful company. From savoring delectable meals at Roosters Brewing Co and The Angry Goat to uncovering the hidden gem of The Side Bar at Ogden’s Own Distillery, each moment was perfect. Snowbasin's scenic beauty added the crowning touch of adventure to our trip.
As we bid adieu to the beautiful city of Ogden, we know we'll be back soon to explore more hidden gems that it has to hold!
Until next time, keep spinning the wheel of adventure!
