A Night at the Bismarck KOA: A Pleasant Surprise in North Dakota

If you're ever cruising along the interstate through North Dakota, you'll want to keep an eye out for the Bismarck KOA. Nestled conveniently off the highway, this campground offers a hassle-free pit stop for travelers of all sorts.

The Bismarck KOA boasts an array of amenities and spacious pull-through sites, catering to RVs of all shapes and sizes. Our adventure led us here for just one night, so we didn't have the chance to explore the showers or laundry facilities, but the overall setup left us impressed.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, our stomachs began to rumble, and that's when we stumbled upon a hidden gem in Bismarck: Charras and Tequila. It's not every day you find a Mexican restaurant in the heart of North Dakota, but this delightful surprise added a unique twist to our evening.

Our culinary journey kicked off with a generous serving of tableside guacamole, a real treat that set the tone for the rest of our meal. Paired with a specially prepared side salad, we anticipated the main event – fajitas. I opted for the deluxe fajitas, a combination that featured chicken, steak, and shrimp. To take it up a notch, I went for the "loaded" option, which included cheese, mushrooms, and even pineapple.

Now, I'll admit, I was initially hesitant about pineapple on my fajitas, but oh boy, was I in for a surprise. The sweet and tangy flavor of the pineapple blended perfectly with the savory meats and veggies. It was a flavor explosion that I won't soon forget.

To make the experience even more memorable, our waiter was nothing short of fantastic. He guided us through the menu, making spot-on recommendations, and introduced me to a new tequila, El Tequileno. This reposado tequila added an extra layer of sophistication to our dining experience.
